Well, whatever the reason for the rerelease, it looks like Avengers: Endgame will still not beat Avatar‘s $US 2.788 billion record at the global box office. In North America, Endgame raked in a fine $US 5.5 million this past weekend, which is a massive rise from last weekend’s $US 1.9 million. This puts Endgame‘s North American box office at $US 841.3 million. In North America, Star Wars: The Force Awakens still holds the top stop with a staggering $US 936.7 million.

Outside of North America, the film made a rather disappointing $US 2.3 million, putting its total global box office collection at $US 2.761 billion. That number, as insanely high as it is, is still $US 27 million short of Avatar‘s record. I would say best case scenario, it will hit the $US 2.776 mark by the end of its storied run. While people love Avengers: Endgame and it definitely calls for multiple viewings, it looks like most film fans have got their eyes locked on other films such as Annabelle Comes Home, which made over $US 76 million at the global box office this past weekend. There’s also Spider-Man: Far From Home and The Lion King heading to cinemas in the coming weeks. After all, it’s not like the Endgame rerelease comes with any new footage within the movie itself.
