For the mobile network segment, Maxis continues to dominate the space which is something that the telco has managed to achieve for the past few years. According to the report, Maxis managed to deliver average download speed of 32.32 Mbps which is 7Mbps higher than the second fastest telco in the report, Digi. However, on year-to-year comparison, it seems that Maxis is almost 3Mbps slower than its result in 2018. On another hand, other telcos within the Big 4 group which include Celcom, Digi, and U Mobile have gained more speed in 2019: In terms of latency, every telcos average RTT have increased in 2019. Some are more than others, as you can see from these tables: Despite the degradation in performance, all mobile telcos in Malaysia are still well within the confines of MCMC’s mandatory standards which stated that theys must be able to provide at least 1Mbps download speed for at least 80% of the time alongside latency rate of under 250ms for at least 70% of the time.
